What makes us different?

What makes us different?

We promote a transforming technological project under the principles of the social and solidarity economy. A project where the center is people and that works with democratic criteria and equity.

HORIZONTAL ORGANIZATION

Decision spaces:
  • Weekly meeting on labor issues
  • Quarterly Assembly
  • Annual meeting

We work in a 100% horizontal structure. We have created a horizontal structure where all workers are members of the organization and have the same remuneration. There are no differences between members and anyone who joins the cooperative has exactly the same rights and obligations as the founding members.

At the same time, we are aware that total horizontality does not cease to be a theoretical framework in which we move. That is why we think of it as a process under construction. As something towards where we want to go, but which in no case supposes a closed process.

INTERCOOPERATION AND NETWORKS

Working together makes us stronger. Therefore, we prioritize working with other solidarity economy initiatives. In addition, we participate in the following spaces to learn and share transformative practices:

  • Federació de cooperatives de Catalunya
  • Xarxa d'Economia solidària
  • Fira d’Economia Solidària
  • Grup Ecos

TRANSPARENCY - WE MAKE SOCIAL BALANCE

Transparency is one of the main values of the cooperative. It is a mechanism that is based on trust and that we incorporate into our decision-making spaces. All members of Jamgo have access to the economic and strategic information of the cooperative.

In addition, since 2015, we have made the Social Balanç, a tool promoted by the Solidarity Economy Network. For us it is a way to self-evaluate and keep improving in terms of democracy, equality, environment and social commitment year after year. It also helps us to assess the professional quality of Jamgo and is a transparency exercise for our customers and suppliers.

FREE SOFTWARE

The reins of technology have been taken by a privileged minority, while a large mass of the population does not have access to the benefits of it. Moreover, technology has been linked only to the parameters of economic gain, which have no other consideration.

DONES I TECNOLOGIA

PERSPECTIVA FEMINISTA

Free software favors the creation of collective projects and dispenses with proprietary licenses that only benefit a few. For Jamgo it is one of the ways to build, among all, a more just, accessible, horizontal and free technology, at the service of society.

  • We use free software
  • We choose open standards
  • We work with open licenses

The limited presence of women in technological environments has traditionally led us to be a man’s exclusive cooperative. We are aware of the gender inequality of the organization that reproduces the patterns technology world and, therefore, we make conscious efforts to apply a feminist perspective.

In 2016 we started a process to incorporate women to the cooperative with the intention of having a more representative team, with a wider vision of the world. We combat gender stereotypes in technology and break with the discriminatory practices of the sector. It is not only a matter of quotas to increase the representation of women, but also to reverse the status-quo patriarchal dynamics.
